Abstract:

When the blood analyzer uses the anticoagulant EDTA-K2 anticoagulant for blood cell analysis, sometimes platelet aggregation, resulting in a pseudo-low platelet count phenomenon, that is, EDTA-dependent pseudo thrombocytopenia (EDTA-dependent pseudo thrombocytopenia , EDTA-PTCP). If EDTA-PTCP was not discovered in time, it may cause misdiagnosis and even medical disputes in patients' clinical diagnosis and treatment. Therefore, the analysis of EDTA-PTCP related factors and the research of laboratory countermeasures have attracted much attention, especially the establishment of EDTA-PTCP laboratory solutions is more necessary. This article explores the factors related to the occurrence of EDTA-PTCP caused by EDTA in blood cell analyzers, and discusses the corresponding solutions and laboratory quality control.
