Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the clinical value of peripheral blood eosinophil count in the auxiliary diagnosis of children with allergic rhinitis.

Methods

117 children with allergic rhinitis diagnosed in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University and 118 healthy children from the physical examination of the Maternal and Children Health Care Hospital in Yuexiu District in Guangzhou were collected through retrospective analysis, and the correlation analysis was conducted based on the resultes ofthe severity of allergic rhinitis and Visual Analog Scale.

Results

Compared with healthy children, peripheral blood eosinophil count were higher in children with allergic rhinitis. The number of eosinophil in patients with allergic rhinitis was correlated with tIgE、eye itching and sneezing. There was a statistically difference in the correlation between eosinophil count and symptom in different degrees of allergic rhinitis.

Conclusions

Peripheral blood eosinophil count can assist in the diagnosis of allergic rhinitis, and combined with tIgE can reflect the severity of allergic rhinitis.
