Abstract:

At present, more and more evidences show that tumor stem cells (CSCs) play an important role in the occurrence and development of tumor. The CSCs theory is now widely accepted, and provides novel insights into the interpretation of tumor initiation, aggressive growth, recurrence, and metastasis, as well as the development of new strategies for cancer treatment. With the further study of CSCs biology, it will provide help for the diagnosis and treatment of tumor. This review will focus on the progress of theory and model of CSCs, introduce the origin and classification of CSCs.
