Abstract:

Lupus nephritis (LN) is a common complication of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE),the main clinical features of which are abnormal urine sediment and renal dysfunction. Neutrophil gelatinaseassociated lipocalin (NGAL) as a member of lipocalin family might be closely relate with inflammation and tumor. In recent years, studies show that NGAL is associated with initiation of kidney development and protection of kidney function. Meanwhile, the level of NGAL expression is significantly increase in LN,espaciallyin urine, which is more relevant to the degree of renal damage. Then, NGAL is found having important meaning to early diagnosis, disease monitoring and prognosis evaluation of LN. It is a new ideal LN biomarker.
