Abstract:

Objective

To compare the plasma levels of myeloperoxidase (MPO) between patients with angiocardiopathy and healthy controls, and to evaluate the role of MPO in diagnosis of angiocardiopathy.

Methods

Sixty-four patients with angiocardiopathy confirmed by coronary arteriography and radioisotope labeling were enrolled into the angiocardiopathy group, and fifty-eight healthy persons receiving physical examination were enrolled into the healthy control group. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the levels of MPO in plasma of the two group. The differences between the two groups were compared, and statistical analysis was performed.

Results

The results showed that the plasma MPO levels were significantly different between the two groups. The average MPO level was 126.17±32.40 ug/L in the angiocardiopathy group and was 74.88±31.12 ug/L in the control group (P<0.05). The ROC curve suggested that MPO had a moderate diagnostic accuracy for angiocardiopathy.

Conclusions

The level of MPO in the plasma of patients with angiocardiopathy significantly increased, suggesting that MPO has guiding significance in the diagnosis of angiocardiopathy.
