Application of case-based virtual simulation platform in clinical biochemical laboratory clinical teaching

Abstract:

Objective

To explore the application of case-based virtual simulation platform in clinical biochemical laboratory clinical teaching.

Methods

A total of 62 interns from the biochemical group of the laboratory department of the Second Clinical Medical College of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from 2018 to 2019 were selected. Among them, 30 interns from 2018 as the control group and 32 interns from 2019 as the experimental group. Using the results of the graduation assessment as the evaluation indicator, and investigating the satisfaction of the experimental group with the clinical teaching method. The application effects of case-based virtual simulation platform and traditional teaching mode in clinical biochemical teaching were compared.

Results

The students of experimental group had better performance in various subject assessments than those of control group, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). Additionally, 93.75% of the experimental group students believed that using a case-based virtual simulation platform during the biochemical internship was an effective teaching method, which facilitated the integration of theory and practice.

Conclusion

The application of case-based virtual simulation internship teaching platform in clinical teaching can enhance the quality and level of teaching, accelerate the cultivation of modern medical laboratory talents who are capable of utilizing interdisciplinary knowledge, proficient in clinical and laboratory testing, and solve complex problems in the medical field.
