Abstract:

Objective

To improve the effectiveness and timeliness of ward inspection for critical value by applying PDCA cycle management tools.

Methods

A PDCA cycle group was established to investigate the status quo, find and analyze problems, draw up plans, solve problems, continuously analyze, summarize and improve, develop a new critical value management system, and continue to supervise the implementation of critical values in clinical departments.

Results

After the implementation of PDCA cycle management, the critical notification rate increased from 95.67% to 100%, and the nurse critical value acceptance rate increased from 70.56% to 98.81%, (χ2=14.85、98.81, P<0.01).

Conclusions

Through PDCA management, the hospitalized patients′ critical value notification rate and acceptance rate have been significantly improved, which can better implement the critical value system of the 18 core systems, thus ensuring patients′ safety.
